Why you should be prepared for flooding in New York City
Flooding has started to roll into the city after a powerful tropical storm pounded the eastern New York coast with sustained winds of 115 mph, officials said Thursday.
The weather warning for New York state, including Long Island and parts of New York and New Jersey, has been issued for the city and towns of East Windsor, New York, and Westport, New Jersey.
The weather warning extends through Friday afternoon.
Residents in areas of the region where flooding has begun to build should prepare to relocate to higher ground or evacuate.
